Passeggiata Waterbury – A Stroll with Neighbors in Our Sweet, Walkable Downtown.

Come with friends, family, neighbors, or solo for Waterbury's very own passeggiata — a relaxed, social stroll through the heart of our downtown on Wednesday evenings.

Inspired by towns across Italy (and more recently, Burlington, VT!), we're excited to bring this lovely tradition to Waterbury every Wednesday evening starting August 6, anytime between 5:00-ish and 8:00-ish while the weather is warm.

What's a passeggiata? (pronounced "PASS-eh-JAH-ta") It's an Italian tradition — a leisurely walk through the town center, just for the joy of being out, connecting with others, and soaking in the evening. No destination, no agenda, no pressure.

-Chat with neighbors
-Walk a few loops through town
-Browse shop windows
-Stop into a local shop with extended hours for passeggiata
-Have an aperitivo or caffè
-Enjoy a gelato
-Take a seat and people-watch
-Simply enjoy the company of your community

We're working on bringing in some music to enjoy while we stroll.

-There's no official start or end time — just come out anytime between 5–8 p.m.
-There's no destination.
-It's not an event.
-In Italy, people often walk up and down the street multiple times.

The Vermont Philharmonic brings its big orchestral sound to the lawn at Moose Meadow Lodge on Sunday August 10th at 4:00 PM for its annual Summer Pops Concert.

Under the baton of music director Lou Kosma, the orchestra will entertain the audience with music from West Side Story and Carmen (“March of the Toreadors”) and composers Leroy Anderson and Duke Ellington. Concertmaster Joanna Alpizar will sing Sabor a Mi, and princ ...

The Vermont Philharmonic brings its big orchestral sound to the lawn at Moose Meadow Lodge on Sunday August 10th at 4:00 PM for its annual Summer Pops Concert.

Under the baton of music director Lou Kosma, the orchestra will entertain the audience with music from West Side Story and Carmen (“March of the Toreadors”) and composers Leroy Anderson and Duke Ellington. Concertmaster Joanna Alpizar will sing Sabor a Mi, and principal clarinetist Margaret Barsumian will perform the rousing Clarinet Polka. The program also features a work by a young Vermont composer, Alexander Maroney, along with audience favorites “Washington Post March”, “Ashokan Farewell”, “Bohemian Rhapsody”, and “Take Me Out to the Ballgame”. The program concludes, of course, with “The Stars and Stripes Forever”.

Moose Meadow Lodge is located at 607 Crossett Hill Road in Duxbury. The grounds will be open for picnicking at 3:00 PM. Tickets are $25 adults, $20 seniors, $5 students, $55 family of 4 – available online or at the venue (cash or check).

In case of rain, the concert will be held at Harwood Union High School, 458 Rte 100, Moretown.

Celebrating its 66th Season, the Vermont Philharmonic is composed of professional and talented amateur musicians from throughout Vermont. It is Vermont’s oldest community orchestra, founded in 1959 by Jon Borowicz, emeritus professor of music at Norwich University. Since 1993, the Philharmonic’s home base has been the Barre Opera House. Lou Kosma has been the Music Director of the Philharmonic since 1999.

Come out to the 2nd Annual Mad River Valley Summer Carnival for an afternoon of fabulous fun. Families will enjoy games, food, a bounce house, face painting, live animals and more. There's even a dunk tank and raffle!

LIVE ENTERTAINMENT: Featuring the Brothers Miclon, a juggling extravaganza!!

Admission is FREE. All money raised from activity ticket sales goes to the Fayston, Moretown, Waitsfield, and Warren Elem ...

Inklings is thrilled to welcome award-winning author Tanya Lee Stone!! Join Tanya and help celebrate Women's Equality Day with a reading of REMEMBERING ROSALIND FRANKLIN, an inspiring nonfiction picture book about Rosalind Franklin, the groundbreaking chemist who helped discover the structure of DNA but was not credited for it.

Following the reading, children will have the chance to create a fun, colorful DNA double helix! Tan ...
