Leaf Peepers Half Marathon has been a destination fall road race in Waterbury, VT since 1984. Leaf Peepers Half Marathon has been a destination fall road race in Waterbury, VT since 1984. Timed for optimal fall scenery, the course makes a loop through downtown Waterbury and then rolls along the Winooski River through Waterbury and Duxbury, with views of changing mixed hardwood leaves across the Green Mountains. The much loved River Road course was changed after Hurricane Irene, but we returned there in 2019. The majority of the Half Marathon course is well maintained dirt road after a few miles of pavement at the start, finishing on a short section of trail along the Cross VT trail. The race finishes on the historic VT state Horseshoe Facility lawn, right back where you started your journey. The 5k course is similar scenery and course, but with about half pavement, half dirt road and finishing over the same scenic section of trail.

The gym is open at 6:30pm to start setting up the net and play is from 7 - 9pm. Please park behind the building and enter through the rear doors.

Are we separate from the issues we see pervading our culture or are we all collectively creating them because of the way we have been conditioned to think?

Structure
Our time together will be spent in a rich fluid atmosphere of teaching, dialogue and contemplation. Each class will be organic and holistic. We will use the energy and interests of the participants to lead us all into deeper understandings of the cultural dream state and breaking free into awakening.

You’ll leave each session feeling more strength and fortitude in continuing upon the greatest journey of all; the hero’s journey - the odyssey of self-discovery.

The Focus
We will dig into our cultural and “normal” state of consciousness.

Do our cultural beliefs give us a deeper understanding of reality or actually distort our perception of reality?

How do all of our cultural issues such as poverty, racism, sexism, war, environmental degradation, addiction, and many others connect to a single root?

How is culture a dream state and how can a culture be a hellish or heaven like way of living?

How does our cultural thinking impact the way we use science?

Are we interconnected with the world, what is Wholeness?

We will leap into what different people call Wholeness, Buddha Nature, Cosmic Consciousness, God, and Tao and what transcendence and transpersonal mean.

You will learn how to dig into the fundamental questions that pertain to reality, oneself, nature, consciousness and culture.

You will discover the art of listening and how that pertains to actually letting go.

This all sounds great, but who are these facilitators?
It’s us! Garin and April. We have spent our careers exploring the intersection of culture, philosophy, psychology and education. Garin’s masters’ degrees are in transpersonal and consciousness studies and education. April’s bachelor’s degrees are in psychology and philosophy and master’s is in psychology. We obtained these degrees because this is what we love to think about and learn about, and we’re so excited to think and learn with you!

Since establishing his first Senate office in the then-slated-for-demolition firehouse in downtown Burlington in 1975, Senator Leahy has put our historic downtowns at the center of his economic development agenda. He has championed investments in historic preservation programs that nearly every downtown has benefited from, created new ones (like National Park Service Paul Bruhn Historic Revitalization Grants), earmarked grants for housing, sewer, and water projects that have served as catalysts for redevelopment, and fought for the businesses that make our downtowns great. When tragedy has hit our downtowns, from fires in Randolph, St. Johnsbury, or Brattleboro to floods in Waterbury, Northfield, and Montpelier – Senator Leahy has made sure the federal resources were there to rebuild better.

Spooky Tales, a theatrical storytelling event, will feature haunting original stories from several local authors. Actors Mark Nash and Kathryn Blume will bring the spooky and scary to life in this evening of ghost stories.

Going into its seventh year, the Climb for a Cause is an annual fundraiser where Red Sweater Project supporters hike some impressive peaks in the United States to bring educational opportunities to children in rural Tanzania. Started in 2016 by John and Alicia Nicholson, the Climb is now co-led this year by John and Alicia, and their niece, Charlotte!
